Street Portrait Teamwork

I’m a very reluctant photographer when it comes to trying to get portraits of folks on the street. So, today I thought I’d pass along a strategy that seems to work for me: go with a photo buddy.

Having a wingman or wingwoman along will give you more courage to engage with possible subjects–and you can feed off of each other’s ideas!

This hard-working guy had just come off of a 9-hour shift down in The Hole (40-feet deep as of now!). This is the former site of the Boulder Daily Camera on Pearl Street that is now undergoing demolition and then reconstruction as a large retail/office/dining/theater center:
